Movie Production

Aquaman new suit Trailer
Warner Bros. Pictures

Aquaman has been a movie that Warner Bros have wanted to do for a while. Since 2004, they have had their eye on the half Atlantean hero, but it never came to fruition. In 2014 the studio then hired screenwriters Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad to pen the script for Aquaman.

In 2015, James Wan was confirmed to be directing the movie. He would work alongside screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to complete the script for the film. Filming began in 2017, with a budget of 160 million dollars, Wan was able to create the movie that Aquaman truly deserved.

Box Office Predictions

According to Deadline, Aquaman is doing well in advance ticket sales. Fandango has also revealed that the movie is already exceeding sales for other films such as Venom and Mission: Impossible- Fallout. These are no small films either. Both have a massive following of fans and were highly anticipated movies.

Amazon is also working with Atom Tickets to ensure that Prime members can watch the anticipated movie a week in advance. Aquaman has also broken the record for Atom Tickets for highest-ever advance ticket seller in the first 24 hours. Avengers: Infinity Wars previously held that title.

The film has some big shoes to fill but based on what we’ve seen it may be able to meet or even beat expectations. With pre-ticket sales already doing so well only time will tell how big of success Aquaman will be.

Release Date

Aquaman will be released in theaters December 21, if you are an Amazon Prime member get details here on how you can see the movie a week early.
